Who We Are

The DeKalb Music Boosters’ mission, as the primary advocate for the music performance programs at the elementary school, middle school and high school levels of the DeKalb Community Unit School District 428, is to serve and assist the music performance programs and their directors. As Music Boosters our overall purpose is to bring students an appreciation and enjoyment of listening to and making music as a lifelong activity.

What does DeKalb Music Boosters do?

DeKalb Music Boosters provides supplemental funding and volunteer service to the district’s music programs. We support all orchestra, band and choir programs at all of the schools in DeKalb School District 428.

Does being a member mean?

We welcome your contributions in any form…money, time, skills and ideas. Contact us with any questions.

Where does the money go?

Donations go directly to the support of the above mentioned programs. Money may be used to purchase instruments, music, or equipment, or to offset travel expenses for music groups to participate in competitions and festivals. Music Boosters operates on a completely volunteer basis – our members all donate time and resources to make funding possible.

Fundraising has helped District 428 with the following:

  • $10,000 towards the Sugar Bowl trip for the DeKalb High School Marching Band
  • $500 to help send CRMS Orchestra to Chicago
  • $1,000 for the Madrigal Singers
  • $2,500 sponsorship for the “Music in the Schools” program
  • $500 to help send DHS Orchestra to Chicago
  • And so much more!
